Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
