Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
